Puerto La Cruz has many attractions for both tourists and locals alike; such as the "Paseo Colon" (Colombus promenade), a place where people are often found walking around, shopping, and looking for a place to eat at one of the many restaurants. 

In addition to the nearby beaches and the shopping, Puerto La Cruz offers nature lovers a chance to visit the nearby, famous Mochima National Park. Between Puerto La Cruz to Cumaná, the group of islands visible from the coast and the surrounding waters were declared as a National Park in 1973, under the name of Bahía de Mochima (Mochima Bay). Here it is possible to enjoy all the wonders offered by its many islands, the beauty of white sand and blue sea, and experience close encounters with various kinds of animals.

The area around Puerto La Cruz, famous for the beaches which stretch from Boca de Uchire to the Gulf of Santa Fe, is known as the "Route of the Sun". The road stretching between these lovely beaches offers some stunning views of the Caribbean. Though the local city beach is not recommended for swimming, it is easy to get to many of the famously beautiful beach areas by bus or water taxi.
