Location: The Chinese
Language School is located downtown, in the former French Quarters of Shanghai. The campus is in a very nice newly-built group
of houses, overlooking a central Chinese style garden square in a peaceful residential area just within a couple of minutes
walk from restaurants, cafes, embassies, hotels and busy streets.
School Size: The
Shanghai campus offers 9 classrooms. The maximum capacity of the school is 108 students.

Timing: The busy
season is fall and summer. Please make sure to register early if you intend to participate in a program during either of these
seasons.
Start Dates: Students can begin on any Monday of the year, unless they are a complete beginner.
Beginner start dates are as follows: Jan 9, Feb 6, Mar 6, Apr 3, May 8, Jun 5, Jul 3, Jul 31, Aug 28, Sep 25, Oct 30, Nov
27 in 2006.
Holidays: School is closed on Jan 1, 30– Feb
1, May 1-3, Oct 2-3 in 2006. Classes missed on holidays are not made up.
Duration:
Classes run in weekly increments with a minimum of 2 weeks. Lessons are provided from Monday through Friday with 4 group lessons
per day. Each lesson is 50 minutes.
Content: Classes
include tapes, role play, outdoor activities, workshops, phonetics, drills and always embrace Chinese culture together with
modern day China. Teaching material is included in the tuition price.
Books: Books and
materials used at the Chinese Language School include "China Panorama/ Language and culture press" which are Chinese
textbooks prepared by a group of TCFL experts under the Ministry of Education of P.R. China; " Chinese phonetics", "Approaching
Chinese", "Intermediate Chinese", "Chinese for Business", "Chinese for Tourism" which includes audio, video tapes, and CD-ROM.
Homework: Homework
is issued occasionally and takes approximately 20 minutes to complete.
College Credit: Please

Excursions/Activities:
The school is able to advise students on their excursion opportunities upon arrival. Activities which the school offers include
Chinese calligraphy or Chinese painting, Shanghai dialect, paper cutting, Chinese cooking, Chinese medicine, Chinese characters,
students also have the opportunity to spend a day with a Chinese family.
Accommodations:
Students of the Chinese Language School in Shanghai have the opportunity to share an apartment with other students.
The apartments are located within a 5-10 minute walking distance from the school. Students can choose between a shared or
private bedroom but will share kitchen and bathroom. Towels and bed linen are provided and a cleaning lady visits on a weekly
basis.
