Shanghai offers amazing
contrasts between traditional and futuristic China. The once small fishing port is now a world famous international port,
the biggest city in China and the 6th biggest City in the world in terms of population density. Shanghai is also the birthplace
of China's tourist industry. The city is very Western compared to other cities
in China, due to its history as an economic hub, which drew people from many places abroad.
The foreign influence can be seen in architecture, cuisine and culture throughout Shanghai.
A variety of fairs and festivals take place in the city each year, such as the New Years Eve Longhua Temple Bell Striking,
the Nanhui county Peach Blossom Festival, the Shanghai Tourism Festival, and the international Tea Culture Festival.
