Study Spanish Abroad in Quito, Ecuador |

Quito
presents a natural beauty with its year-round spring like weather and nearness to majestic mountains, snow-capped volcanoes,
and lush rainforests while exhibiting a combination of both history and modernism. Quito's architecture is amazing: There are modern buildings in the northern part of the city called New
Quito. This is where the embassies, shops, and modern offices are. A new museum called Vivarium, built in New Quito, offers
reptile lovers the chance to study and appreciate iguanas, tortoises, turtles, frogs, boa constrictors, and one of South Americas
most poisonous snakes, the fer-de-lance.
However, Old Quito’s development has been controlled since 1978, when it was declared by UNESCO
to be a world cultural heritage site. This is where one will encounter colorful buildings, colonial churches, museums, beautiful
parks, ornamental lakes, markets, and craft galleries.
You can visit a church built towards the end of the Colonial period, the Iglesia de la Merced, or visit
South Americas oldest astronomical observatory.

right on the equator. Also, there are markets and stores in which to shop in order to get some indigenous handicrafts as souvenirs.

you to travel throughout the city in order to get to all the amazing places that this modern yet historic city offers. In
addition the city has a vast network of taxis everywhere that are available to take you from sites to landmarks to museums
to shopping. Be prepared to spend many days exploring as there is so much beauty and culture that it would be a pity to miss
any of it.
By night, ever-changing hot spots include bars and nightclubs
that close at 2 am. Let your hair hang down and dance the night away as Quito has quite the active nightlife.
In addition to its combination of old and new sites and
landmarks, Quito's great location offers visitors the chance to participate in many fun, physical activities such as mountain
climbing, hiking, camping, rafting, and kayaking in the nearby parks and reserves; surfing on the pacific north of the Santa
Elena Peninsula, or fishing in the jungle; And go horseback riding in the nearby mountains.

buildings and cultural events, to its modern sites and parks, this city is an intriguing and educating place to visit and
