Location: In the city center (on the corner with Gran Via, 5 minutes walk from the Plaza Mayor)

 

School Size: The building is a fully renovated and modernized former convent. There are many classrooms available in this large building - 30 to 60 depending on the number needed to accommodate students. 

 

Class Size: The maximum number of students per class is 9, however the average class size tends to be about 5 students.

Holidays: In Spain there are 10 public national holidays. In addition, there are holidays specific to the city. Though these holidays are mentioned, please double check with us to make sure as they are currently tentative.

Spain’s national holidays: January 1, 6, March 24, 25, May 2, July 25, August 15, October 12, November 1, December 6, 8, 25 of 2005.

City specific holidays: June 12, April 23, September 8 of 2005.

 

Duration: Classes run in weekly increments starting on a Monday and ending on a Friday. The minimum course duration is one week. Students may choose the number of lessons they take per week as well as opt to take group classes, private lessons or a combination of both.

 

Content: Methodology is based on acquiring the linguistic and pragmatic functional aspects of the spoken language along with an understanding of the socio-cultural elements of the Spanish way of life. In all our courses we study the basic language skills individually: reading, writing, speaking and listening…then we work to integrate them. In addition to these skills we also emphasize grammatical structure to help the student reach an optimum threshold of communicative proficiency. Additionally, to broaden the student's general perspective, we offer the possibility of studying distinct facets of Spanish culture including history, art, civilization, literature, cinema, and more. We feel that immersion language learning is a dynamic process which takes advantage of the fact that the students are living within the Spanish culture.

Books: The student will be provided with their first book. Additional books for each new level are available through the school for 15 Euros. Workbooks can be purchased from the school for 11 Euros.

 

 

School’s Features: The school also includes a staff room, a lecture room , a computer room, a lounge area, a beautiful central patio and spacious sport areas.

 

College Credit: Contact an advisor at your university to determine whether or not academic credit is available. Please contact us if your school requires a syllabus of the programs at least 4 weeks prior to when your syllabus is due to be turned in.

 

 

Excursions/Activities: The school offers interesting afternoon guided cultural visits to museums, historical buildings, etc. as well as half day and full day trips to places such as: La Plaza Mayor, Catedral nueva y Vieja Alba de Tormes, Burgos and its Cathedral, Madrid, Toledo, Prado Museum, Portugal, Avila, Segovia, Ciudad Rodrigo, Tour of ancient castles.

-          Customized programs for groups of 8 or more (our schools will coordinate with your home-country teacher to create custom-fitted courses)

-          High School program (semester or academic year for High School students, ages 13 or older)

-          International Summer residential camps for children and young adults (Program for those 5-18 years of age – students have fun, study a language and meet other people their age from Spain and around the world)
