Location: Our Spanish School is in the middle of the historical part of the city, five minutes from the old university of Granada, the pedestrian area, the cathedral and just behind the Faculty of Translation housed in a historical palace. The most interesting part of the city and your lodging are within walking distance. A lively and friendly atmosphere is ensured in this special location.

 

School Size: The school has 15 classrooms. 

 

Class Size: The maximum number of students per class is 9, however the average class size tends to be about 5 students.

 

Holidays: In Spain there are 10 public national holidays. In addition, there are holidays specific to the city. Though these holidays are mentioned, please double check with us to make sure as they are currently tentative.

Spain’s national holidays: January 1, 6, March 24, 25, May 2, July 25, August 15, October 12, November 1, December 6, 8, 25 of 2005.

City specific holidays: January 2, February 28, June 9 of 2005

 

Duration: Classes run in weekly increments starting on a Monday and ending on a Friday. The minimum course duration is one week. Students may choose the number of lessons they take per week as well as opt to take group classes, private lessons or a combination of both.

 

Content: Methodology is based on acquiring the linguistic and pragmatic functional aspects of the spoken language along with an understanding of the socio-cultural elements of the Spanish way of life. In all our courses we study the basic language skills individually: reading, writing, speaking and listening…then we work to integrate them. In addition to these skills we also emphasize grammatical structure to help the student reach an optimum threshold of communicative proficiency. Additionally, to broaden the student's general perspective, we offer the possibility of studying distinct facets of Spanish culture including history, art, civilization, literature, cinema, and more. We feel that immersion language learning is a dynamic process which takes advantage of the fact that the students are living within the Spanish culture.

 

Books: The student will be provided with their first book. Additional books for each new level are available through the school for 15 Euros. Workbooks can be purchased from the school for 11 Euros.

College Credit: Contact an advisor at your university to determine whether or not academic credit is available. Please contact us if your school requires a syllabus of the programs at least 4 weeks prior to when your syllabus is due to be turned in.

 

Excursions/Activities: Our Granada school offers many interesting afternoon cultural guided visits to museums, historical buildings, etc., to places such as the Museum of Fine Arts, the Archeological Museum and La Alhambra. The school also offers full day trips to places like Cordoba, Costa Tropical, Sierra Nevada and more. Students can also participate in amazing weekend adventures to Sevilla, Madrid, Portugal, and Morocco.
