Accommodations in Ensenada

There are several different accommodation options available through Language Skills Abroad in Ensenada. We offer you the option to live with a Mexican family, stay in a hostel, or a hotel. Language Skills Abroad is proud to offer specials for hotels located in the downtown area which is only about a 20 minute walk from the school. Please read on for more information about the different accommodation options available and the pricing.

Homestay

Practical information:

Living in a host family is the most effective way to study a language.

With the host family, you will eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and you will practice your Spanish as they review your homework with you and make sure you are prepared for class that day.

Most of the host families are in reasonable walking distance from the school, which can equate to about a half hour walk each way. Those families which are located a bit further from the school will drive you to school every day and pick you up afterwards.

Niceties:

The host families are very generous and welcoming. They will treat you like one of their own.

They will speak to you ONLY in Spanish.

They will help you and review with you your homework.

The houses of the host families are well maintained, nice looking homes.

Some host families even have seperate guest houses for students who wish to have a bit more privacy.

Price: $27 per night per person. Please note that you will pay the

host family directly upon arrival.

Check in date: Check in on Sunday

Check out date: Check out on the last Friday of the program.

Hostels

After doing an extensive search, we found the El Sauzal hostel in Ensenada.

Practical information:

The hostel, El Sauzal, is located about 10-15 minute drive from the Baja California Language College.

Each room has 4 beds so that guests are likely share the room with 3 other people.

There are desks in each room for you to be able to do your homework.

The rooms open to a long veranda with ocean views.

Breakfast is inlcuded with your stay.

There are large storage lockers for your luggage and backpacks.

Niceties:

It is right near Beaches, restaurants, taco stands, wineries, shopping, cantinas, dance clubs, museums, sport fishing, whale watching, flea markets, and a new waterfront walkway! It is an ideal place to stay for those who wish to go surfing. Surfers from around the world, as well as Southern California, come to experience the Baja surf.

El Sauzal provides breakfast that consists of anything from pancakes to traditional Mexican breakfasts like Huevos Rancheros and Huevos a la Mexicana. Coffee and tea are avilable at any time.

Buses run frequently from El Sauzal to Ensenada.

Hotels

There are many hotels located in Ensenada, especially in the downtown area. The following hotels have been researched and given recommendation by Language Skills Abroad; Villa Fontana and La Bahia.

Villa Fontana:

Practical information:

The rooms are rather basic. There is no coffee maker or refrigerator. In fact, there is not even a clock in the room. There is a bed, a desk, and a TV.

Niceties:

Villa Fontana is located in a central part of the down town only one bock away from the harbor.

The front desk serves coffee and pastries in the morning.

The hotel works in association with other restaurants and provides its guests a discount to some nearby restaurants.

There is a very nice pool and Jacuzi tub available for guests.

Price: $40

Check out: 12 pm

La Bahia

Practical information:

La Bahia is located on the same street as Villa Fontana so the walk to the Baja California Language College is approximately 20 minutes.

The room is basic with a bed and TV.

Niceties:

It is nearby all the same nice restaurants, bars, and cafes which are prevelent in downtown Ensenada.

The rooms have a very nice balcony.

This hotel provides students that are signed up with Language Skills Abroad a discounted rate all year round, even during the high season.

Price: $28.20 per night on weeknights

$39 per night on weekends
