Most of our students elect to stay with a Costa Rican host
family in the town of Santa Ana. However, many of our students prefer a more tranquil, relaxed atmosphere with a bit more
privacy. Conversa has two on-campus lodges that provide these features, while still allowing the student ample contact with
Spanish and with Costa Rican culture.

La Casona |
Built in 1991, La Casona was designed by
arquitect Luis Bernardo Ortíz. It boasts a magnificent view of the Santa Ana Valley, brick and hardwood floors, lots of stonework
and beamed ceilings. The building is flanked by a large brick terrace. The downstairs is taken up by a large living room and
dining room , an office with Internet access, a breakfast nook and kitchen and a laundry room.
The second floor has six double bedrooms,
each with a private bath. There is also a large common room and an extensive balcony. A third floor has a large room for reading,
relaxing and doing homework. |

La Casita |
Oftentimes entire families come
to Conversa to learn Spanish. While Conversa does have hosts with the capability of handling families, we have found it helpful
to have La Casita as an alternative. La Casita was built in 1992. It looks like an old adobe house, the kind one used to find
on coffee plantations here on the Meseta Central. Truth be told, it is made of concrete blocks, but the wavy stucco finish
gives the illusion of adobe. The building can accommodate two families. There are two two-room suites, each with an adjoining
bath. There is a large front terrace and a charming side patio as well as a shared living room and kitchen. Adjoining La Casita
are swings, ping pong tables a TV lounge and a swimming pool. |
