Location: Our Spanish School
in Quito is located in the modern part of Quito, close to the commercial area, one block from the main Av. Amazonas,
surrounded by banks with ATM machines, shopping centers, bars, restaurants, cafes, discotheques, peņas, cultural centers,
post offices and close to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Migration Office, and other institutions that can be of
help to foreigners.
School Size: Class size: Each class maintains a 1:1 student teacher ratio. Classes
are always in private format.
Minimum age: Students must
be 16 years of age or older to participate in the program. Students younger than 16 can be provided lessons if parents are
enrolled in the program as well.
Timing: High season tends to be in the summer so make sure to register
early if you intend to study during the summer months in order to ensure space in the program.
Start dates: The Spanish Language School in Quito is
flexible with its start dates and can allow a student to begin a program on any day of the week except on the weekends or
holidays.
Holidays: Classes are not
held on the following two holidays: Christmas and Good Friday.
Duration:
Depending on the level, the type of program, and the teacher availability, classes will begin either at 8:30 AM and run through
12:30 pm or begin at 1:30 PM and run through 5:30 PM. Time of class will be determined after taking the placement test and
language ability is determined.
Content:
The objective of the teachers is to teach the modern usage of the Spanish Language, focus on development and understanding
of both spoken and written Spanish, as well as the ability to express oneself orally and in writing. Courses also emphasize
pronunciation, style, idioms and grammar. Since lessons are held in a one on one format, each lesson can be adapted according
to the student's present level of Spanish and personal learning needs without having to take into consideration the needs
of other students. The lessons can focus entirely on the subjects, learning targets and topics required by the student, whether
they be the ability to enhance one's spoken Spanish or teach Spanish as it relates to specific job related requirements. In
addition, Spanish is taught with the use of video films and teacher-accompanied visits to places of cultural interest and
tourist attractions. Books: The books used by the Spanish Language School in Quito were designed by Ecuadorian and foreign
universities for the purpose of teaching Spanish as a second language. They include bilingual English-Spanish books edited
in the USA and Canada, bilingual German-Spanish books edited in Germany, Bilingual French-Spanish books edited in France,
and Spanish books all in Spanish for the purpose of teaching Spanish as a second language, edited in Spain.
Homework: Homework can
be assigned to reiterate and practice what was covered in class only if the teacher or the student feel that a particular
lesson should be practiced further outside the classroom.
School Features: The school
includes a video room, a small library, a lobby, as well as a coffee and tea room.

Excursions/Activities: Students are taken to various places
of interest in Quito twice per week. Examples of some excursions include visits to museums, churches, and local markets. Some
activities include organized conferences to discuss culture, history, and other subjects of interest.
Additional
programs: The general focus at the Spanish Language School in Quito is to study Spanish, however other subjects related
to Ecuadorian culture as well as other subjects may be covered in the private lesson format. Please contact us to discuss

Accommodations:
Students have the option to stay in some nearby hostels or in a host family. The host family option provides students a private
room with three meals per day and laundry service as well as the opportunity to practice Spanish outside of the classroom
since interaction between the student and host family can be expected. Hostels provide the option to have a shared room with
one or two other guests.
Child care: Child care
can be arranged with nearby day centers or host families. Please make sure to mention the need for daycare at registration
so that arrangements can be made.
