Location: The Spanish language school in Caracas is located in a central part of Caracas near all the
shops, parks, bars, and museums. The school is located
near all the transportation stops so traveling by bus, taxi, or metro is convenient for CEVES students. It is also close to
the Universidad Central de Venezuela.
School Size:
The Caracas campus offers 7 classrooms with a maximum capacity of about 40 students.
Class Size: There are never more than 5 students in each class.
Timing: Peak season is summer so register early if you plan to attend in the summer time.
Start dates: Students can begin on any Monday of the year unless the student either is a complete beginner or
if the student wishes to attend school during a holiday. If the student is a complete beginner, there are specific start dates,
which are listed for the year 2006, as follows:
Beginner start dates: March 6, 20, April 3, 17, May 18, 22, June 5, 19, 26, July 3, 17, 31, August 7, 21, September 4,
18, October 2, 16, 30, November 6, 20, 27, December 4, 11 of 2006.
Holidays: Classes will not be held on the
following holidays in 2006; April 13, 14, 19, May 1, July 5, 24, October 12, December 25.
Duration: Students
must take a minimum of 2 weeks of group language study. After the 2 week minimum, the rest of the program will continue to
run in weekly increments. All classes begin on a Monday and end on a Friday. The length of each class depends on the type
of program the student chooses. The options include the opportunity to study in a small group for 4 lessons per day from 9
am to 1 pm.
For those who opt to take the Extra intensive program, group classes will run for 4 lessons from 9 am until 1 pm and then
continue again in private format. Those signed up for the crash course which includes 40 private lessons per week, will be
in class from 9 am until 1 pm and then again from 2 pm to 6 pm.
Content: The Spanish Language School in Venezuela uses the FACIL method of teaching and will incorporate
this method into every session. FACIL stands for Familiarizing the student with daily vocabulary, Assimilating
the vocabulary into regularly used phrases with a new focus on grammar, Conversation, Imitate commonly used
phrases and jargon learned in the first steps but reiterated with more detail, Liberate the creativity of the participant
and permit the flexible use of the language.
Books:
All books used by the Spanish Language School in Venezuela have been designed and trademarked by the
school's instructors.
Homework:
Homework is not assigned unless it is requested by the student.
School Features: The Caracas campus has a cafeteria and interenet room.
College Credit: College credit can be issued based on pre-approval from your university. Contact the admissions office, study
abroad office or Spanish department of your college before applying.
College credit may also be obtained for Spanish 101, 102, and 103 through Seattle Central Community College.
After the program, SCCC will issue a test which will determine the type of Academic credit you will recieve and then transfer
into your own university. Make sure to communicate with an advisor from you university to make sure that they will allow you
to transfer credits from SCCC. If your advisor says that college credit is transferable from SCCC, before attending the program,
make sure to contact SCCC for details on taking the test upon your return.

Excursions/Activities: Two excursions are offered every week to students
who wish to complement their language studies with hands on field experience in exposing themselves to Spanish and the Venezuelan
culture.Whether it be in the form of a guided tour at a museum or a walk through a famous park, the Spanish language
shcool will expose you to the many wonderful attractions that Caracas has to offer. Some examples of excursions in Caracas
includes a visit to the Parque del Este, Universidad Central de Venezuela, Jardín Botánico, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo, Complejo
Cultural Teresa Carreño, Ateneo de Caracas, Galería de Arte Nacional, Museo de Bellas Artes, Museo de Ciencias Naturales,
Panteón Nacional, Casa Natal del Libertador, Museo Bolivariano, El Hatillo, El Junquito, and Colonia Tovar.
Some activities are held at the school. They include things like watching a film, playing games, performing a play or learning
a dance.
Accommodations: The Spanish Language School in Venezuela offers students the opportunity to stay in a Venezuelan
host family. The host family provides breakfast and dinner to the student. The homes tend to be located about 15 to 25 minutes
by walking or public transportation.
